You got it Jasper and that's why I move the hell out of LA.

Like I have said many times before, I am more afraid of the druggies in this area than those who will be coming in from the big cities......however, by the time a couple of them shoot themselves with one of my booby traps they will get the message and stop coming around.

It has been a long process for me in order to be ready and lucky for me I had the the money to get ready...... only item that I am lacking is the nite-scope for my favorite rifle..... my 30-06.

As for a nite-scope, the article talks about that and says you'd better get one pronto because otherwise you're only going to be able to see the bad guys half the time and that ain't good enough.

Agreed, except my new tiller is diesel....ahahahaa......but the hundreds of gallons of gas and diesel I have stored will last quite a while.

Well Jasper eight years ago I bought a night vision made for the Russian military and it cost me a bundle, it amplifies the light by 50,000 times..... the most that I have seen around is only 35,000..... I order the special red filter and attached to a mini mag light (I mounted it to the mono) and also to a hand held four D cell mag light and that lets me see just about anywhere with no problem.

It would be alot safer in the big city urban 'hoods' than in the subdivisions just outside of the towns in those type of chaotic times, imo.....Imagine, during the day the city dwellers(aka 'hunters') would stroll out to the wooded areas around suburbia and hang out for dusk to come unnoticed. They would then carry out disorderly raids by preying on the middle class like large packs of wolves in rapid succession....jewelry, food, women, fuel and weapons would be the primary targets of the hunters....as dawn approachs, they would walk back into town, feed their families, and plan the next evenings hunting activities....

How important would you rate getting some sort of nite vision device? This is something I am lacking in my preps and started thinking about because of this article.

I don't know what sex could possibly have to do with it.

I have a cheap $300 monocular night vision scope and have tried to use other similar models. The cheap ones are crap.

They will work better than nothing in low light at very close range but are useless over 100 yds or so. The light magnification is low so they are equiped with an infrared light for total darkness situations.

Couple years ago I found a fresh deer kill partially buryed with pine needles under a some small trees that were growing very close together about 50 yds below my deck. Looked like a mountain lion kill. So my neighbors and I sat up on the deck at dusk and waited with the night vision. Sure enough just after dark a mother lioness and a large cub came in.
They are very sneaky the surrounding area is all open and we were looking for them but they managed to get in without being seen. The sound of bones crunching was the first indication that they were even there.

It was a night with a full moon and I found that my 10 X 42 swarovski binoculars gave a much better view than the (cheap) night vision monocular.

Of course you can't always have a full moon.
